The new tourist season of 2022 is opened

Croatia is a European country located on the Adriatic Sea. In fact, the popularity of tourism in the country has only been growing in recent years. A country with more than 2,500 sunny days a year. The beautiful coast, islands, waterfalls, historic cities and national parks began to attract more and more tourists to the country.

New-tourist-season-of-2022
The pre-season from May to June is the best time to visit Croatia because of the crowds in summer. Late spring is relatively warm, but a little rainy, which guarantees a very active holiday that includes hiking, kayaking and rafting. Many people will prefer this travel experience to the crowded atmosphere in the heart of the season when it is difficult to find a free spot on the beach.

Although July and August are busy and accommodation can be expensive, you can't miss the opportunity to see lavender blooming on the island of Hvar or attend outdoor events like Ultra Europe Festival and Split Summer, this part of the year offers countless events.

Due to global circumstances, the annual analysis of tourist traffic in 2021 is in many ways different than it was in 2020, but in Croatia the index as of July 15, 2021 was 83 percent higher in arrivals and 72 percent higher in overnight stays. .

Of course, most of the tourist attractions are located on the Croatian coast. Therefore, in terms of the number of overnight stays, Dalmatia is in second place after Istria and Kvarner. At the level of the entire Republic of Croatia, Split-Dalmatia County contributed 18% of arrivals and 19% of overnight stays.

In the first half of the year, 319,940 tourists spent 1,515,611 nights in commercial accommodation in central Dalmatia, according to eVisitor data. This means that for the first half of 2021, there was an 87 percent increase in arrivals and a 93 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year.

In June, Central Dalmatia saw 219,333 tourist arrivals and 1,113,414 commercial overnight stays, which is an increase of 225 percent and 228 percent, respectively, compared to June of the previous year.

The highest percentage of overnight stays was achieved by the city of Split (12.7%), followed by the cities of Makarska (8.5%), Omi (6.2%), Baška Voda (6%) and Tučepi (4.7%). The municipality of Seget is in sixth place with a share of 4.3%, in third place is the nearby municipality of Okrug with a share of 3.9%, and in fourth place is the municipality of Brela with a share of 3.8%, followed by the city of Hvar with 3.7 %, the municipality of Podstrana is 10th, with 3.5%, as well as the city of Kaštela, while the municipality of Gradac had 3.4%, followed by the city of Trogir, Supetar with a 3.2% share and 3.1%, and finally a significant share from 3% of the municipalities of Bol and Podgora.

A few years ago, Split was a transit city that received tourists for a couple of nights, and they would continue their journey to the islands and surrounding attractive locations. But with the development of the city, which provides more and more content, it is being repurposed into the final destination from which they go on smaller one-day trips.

Autumn is known in Croatia for the unforgettable sunsets in Zadar, the beautiful foliage around the Plitvice Lakes, the grape harvest, the making of wine, brandy and fresh oysters.

In winter, most coastal attractions and hotels close their doors. It is the time when you can explore the cities without the crowds of tourists. In February, locals and travelers are delighted by carnivals in cities and towns.

Croatia has one of the most enviable lifestyles in the world. Croats attach great value to quality time with family and friends, enjoying a cup of good coffee in the Dalmatian sun.

No matter what season you choose to visit Croatia, you can't go wrong. The diversity of landscapes, cities and people is truly incredible, as is the climate, which offers different experiences in every season.

It is good to know that due to the impeccable purity of nature, sea and rivers, tap water is drinkable throughout Croatia.

It remains to be seen how many overnight stays Croatia, especially Dalmatia, will achieve in 2022.
