1. Do you pay taxes on a private island?

When you buy real estate in the Republic of Croatia, in addition to purchase and sale costs, the buyer is obliged to pay real estate transfer tax (PPN) in the amount of 3% of the purchase price of real estate or the estimated amount of real estate value by the Tax Administration of the Republic of Croatia.

2. How much does it cost to own a private island?

You can get the islet of Tajan near Dubrovnik for 750,000 euros, while for some of the islands in the Kornati archipelago you will have to pay 3.2 million, near Hvar 2.3 million, while for the island of Sridnja near Zadar you will need to pay 6 million euros.
