Peljesac peninsula - a Mediterranean paradise on earth

The Peljesac peninsula is the second largest Croatian peninsula located in the south of Croatia in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. It stretches parallel to the direction of the coast, and is bordered by the Mali Ston Bay and 3 channels: Peljesac, Mljet and Neretva.

It covers an area of 355 square kilometers and has several larger and interesting settlements and places to visit, such as Ston, Brijesta, Trpanj, Viganj and Orebic, which are also famous tourist destinations, especially during the summer.

The inhabitants of Pelješac are engaged in viticulture, olive growing, fishing and tourism. The most beautiful beaches are one of the reasons for coming to the Peljesac peninsula. Here we can find all kinds of beaches. From golden sand or black sand to rocky and pebble beaches. They are a special tourist attraction and each is worth a visit, so we list the selected: Viganj Beach, Mokalo Beach, Zuljana Beach, Trstenica Beach, Podobno Beach, Prapratno Beach, Borak Beach, Jezero Beach, Duba Beach, Divna Beach, Dingac Beach.

The Pelješac peninsula has long been adorned with vineyards, and wine production is one of the most important activities with a long tradition. Winemakers on Pelješac are the best producers of red wines in Croatia.
Famous wineries:
Vicelić Winery
Milos Winery
Matuško Winery
Saint Hills Winery

Much of the tourist development is precisely the rich historical and cultural treasures visible in many buildings, such as churches, villas, sights and other works of architecture. Indispensable sights are: Maritime Museum, Franciscan Monastery and Church of Our Lady of the Angels, Church of Our Lady of Delorita, the town of Ston, Ston walls and fortifications, Gudnja Cave, Church of St. Mihajlo, Trpanj, Gradina, Church of St. Peter and Paul, Church of St. Roka, etc ... In terms of gastronomy, Ston is perhaps the most interesting place given that it is best known for its oysters that are eaten fresh, taken from the sea. The ultimate experience is a boat ride along the Ston canal where you can try the freshest oyster ever since it is taken out of the sea in front of you and served. Oysters, mussels, rabbits, grebes are just some of the shellfish that provide a unique gastronomic experience, and they are joined by downed fish such as gilthead sea bream, sea bass, toothfish, sheep, then mollusks such as octopuses, mussels, squid and cuttlefish, which are used to make top specialties...

We should also mention the cultivation of citrus fruits such as oranges and mandarins, as well as other southern fruits: almonds, figs, carob legumes. For lovers of active holidays, especially hiking, there are the hills of St. John and St. Elijah, for hikers and cyclists trails in the western part of the peninsula, and for surfers Viganj where the westerly wind blows much faster than usual on the Adriatic, for years an ideal destination for all professional and recreational surfers. Peljesac is one of the warmest places in Croatia, where there is still a lot of untouched nature, clear sea and many interesting locations. For those who want to spend their vacation in the silence of a Dalmatian place, away from the hustle and bustle, this is an ideal choice.
